I sewed with a machine for the top design and then handed it to a professional long arm quilter to attach the front and the batting to the back and add the stitched pattern. And then I hand sewed the boarders with a friend.
Re making a quilt, prepare to become obsessed with quilts and patterns on Instagram. Spend a HUGE sum of money on fabric. Spend YEARS making it, picking it apart and then trying again and finally getting a professional to help you finish it because quilting is seriously hard. It's also the most lovely thing I've ever made and I was so thrilled with the joy it gave when I finally was able to give it to my mother 5 years after I started it.
One year after finishing it I'm considering making another one ...
