A nuance I'd add is that I do find gratitude lists and suchlike helpful because of the negative bias that is apparently a feature of the human brain. Not to facilitate a pretence that everything is fine, but to not be constantly ruminating on what's amiss, and missing the chip shops and the rain (totally relate, from over here on the mid life journey).
Thanks Morgan, good point re gratitude. I was just speaking to a friend who said the same, he feels his life really changing since he started practicing gratitude each morning. 'Not to be constantly ruminating on what's amiss' is a great way to put it. xx
